- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
- (Born not earlier than 02/01/1996 and not later than 01/01/2005).
- Crucial Date for Age Eligibility: 01/01/2026
- Crucial Date for Educational Qualification: N/A (Proof of qualification must be uploaded during the window provided after declaration of Stage-II (Main) result.)
- Closing date of application (16/10/2025) applies only to caste/EWS/OBC/PwBD certificates, not strictly to educational qualification.

Educational Qualification- Degree in Engineering in Respective Branch from recognized University/Institution OR
- Sections A & B of Institution of Engineers (India) OR
- Equivalent degree/diploma recognized by Government of India OR
- Graduate Membership Exam of IETE (India) OR
- Associate Membership of Aeronautical Society of India OR
- Graduate Membership Exam of IERE (London, post 1959).
Special Cases:- Naval Armament Service/Indian Radio Regulatory Service: M.Sc. in relevant subjects (Wireless Communication, Radio Physics, Electronics, etc.).
- Note: Degrees from IETE (India) & Aeronautical Society (India) obtained after 31/05/2013 are invalid.

Exam Plan (3 Stages – 1300 Marks) |
Stage-I: Preliminary (Objective, 500 Marks) : - Paper-I (General Studies & Engineering Aptitude): 200 marks, 2 hrs.
- Paper-II (Engineering Discipline-specific): 300 marks, 3 hrs.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd per wrong answer.
- Shortlisting: ~6–7 times vacancies.
- Must qualify in both Paper-I & Paper-II (min marks fixed by UPSC).
Stage-II: Main (Conventional, 600 Marks) : Paper-I (Engineering Discipline): 300 marks, 3 hrs.Paper-II (Engineering Discipline): 300 marks, 3 hrs.Total: 600 marks.Calculators: Allowed only in conventional papers (not prelims). Stage-III: Personality Test (200 Marks) :- No minimum qualifying marks.
- About 2x of vacancies called.
- Tests: leadership, initiative, intellectual curiosity, social qualities, energy, application, integrity.
Final Selection :- Based on Stage-I + Stage-II + Stage-III.
- Allocation = Rank + Service Preference.

How To Apply UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2026 Form- Candidates must apply online only using the website www.upsconline.nic.in
- First, create an Account and generate a Universal Registration Number (URN). URN is to be registered only once in lifetime and can be done any time.
- After account creation and URN generation, proceed to fill the Common Application Form (CAF), which has three common parts.
- Once the CAF is complete, candidates must fill the 4th part (Exam-Specific Form) for the Engineering Services Examination within the application dates.
- Upload scanned documents in support of Date of Birth, Category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen), Educational Qualification, etc.
- Ensure the uploaded photograph:
- Is not older than 10 days from application start date.
- Shows candidate’s face covering 3/4th of the frame.
- Matches appearance at every stage (Prelims, Mains, Interview).
- Pay the prescribed application fee of ₹200 (except Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates who are exempted) using SBI Branch cash, Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or Net Banking.
- Submit the form carefully. No withdrawal, changes, or corrections are allowed after submission.
- Candidates already in Government Service/PSUs must inform their Head of Department/Office that they are applying.
- Candidates should apply early to get their preferred examination centre, as allotment is on a first-apply-first-allot basis (except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata & Nagpur which have no ceiling).
